Melss
specializes in maintenance Simulators
A broad classification of the simulators:
- Fixed based Simulator
- Motion Based Simulator
- Part Task Trainer (PTT)
- Desktop Flight Trainer - Cockpit Procedure Trainer,
Flight Management Systems
- Maintenance Simulator etc. to name a few
Maintenance simulators aid Trainees/ Technicians in
equipping themselves with the knowledge of second level
of maintenance on the virtual Sub-systems of the Aircraft
(or) Bridge for navy (or) Armoured vehicles for Armed
forces without Grounding any of these Equipments.
The following benefits can be derived from
the Maintenance Simulator :
- Training of Maintenance technician by exposing to
simulated systems prior to hands-on training on actual
systems.
- Reducing the training time for technician due to simulator
training syllabus complementing maintenance syllabus.
- Acquiring improved skill due to close supervision
and learning by easy replay of maintenance tasks.
- Planning of additional maintenance tasks in respect
of a snag on the system without its actual occurrence.
- Aiding to understanding of functioning of system under
normal / faulty conditions through wide range of exercises.
- Practicing fault diagnosis / analysis / rectification
procedures.
- Training made possible irrespective of availability
of the actual equipment.
- Evaluating trainers under standardized conditions.
- Studying on possibilities of likely failures, their
effects & maintenance procedures.
- Saving in cost of training by reducing actual usage
of equipment (i.e) aircraft, helicopter, ammunition,
Tanks or any such system. and low operating cost of
simulator.
- Impart knowledge of system and instruments.
- Train on functional checks and use appropriate maintenance
tools / means.
- Group system components through either circuit or
system and identify their interactions
The function of a Maintenance Simulator can
be classified as below :
- Start and control of simulation, introduction of
fault and evaluation of trainees.
- Receive inputs from Model and test values and find
the response to displays.
- Illuminate panels to simulate functioning of various
designated systems.
- Built-in test of simulator under three categories
viz. Pre-utilisation test, Permanent self-test and Failure
free operating test.
- Conduct failure analysis / diagnosis for the simulated
failures through test sets.
The operating modes of a Maintenance Simulator
can be categorized as under :
- Animation mode - To demonstrate the operation of
the systems by Illuminating the respective sub-system/
LRU appropriately.
- Connect mode - To enable failure free operation of
the systems to be checked by using simulator tests.
- Failure Analysis mode - To enable development of failures
analysis and method of failure tracing.
The Instructor normally initiates the simulation
process through the Instruction console and selects
operational modes / specific system panel / malfunction.
- Hardboard display with highly realistic simulation
of Various sub-systems
- Actual components for the operator to get the feel
of the actual system.
- High quality Visual Cues for proper identification
of LRU's
- Maintenance training in normal and emergency/Fault
procedures
- Sensors sub-system maintenance training including
radar and navigation communication
- COTS based Hardware (PCs, Networking and LAN switches
etc.)
- Simple maintenance and Upgrade
- Flexible Modular and Expandable
- Instructor station for generation of training session
- Central database of lessons and training exercises
- Evaluator /Instructor module: real time monitoring
of students progress; evaluates students achievements
to determine grades, progress, and compute final grade
- Sophisticated tutorial Instructor station incorporating
..............* Windows-oriented user graphic interface
..............* Instructor capability to inject any
level of fault at any juncture
- Man machine interface based on Visual basic
- User Friendly procedure editing with security for
future procedure upgrades
- Blow up's of different subsystem components and LRU's
with high quality visual cues
- Self learning mode for beginners for unattended training
for the Normal procedure
- Both standalone and Networked environment operation
possible
Melss have extensively worked on Maintenance Simulator
for Helicopters and Aircrafts avionic sub-systems.
